      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Sappy, dull, and muddled, Dragonfly is too melancholic and cliched to generate much suspense.

Ramona L I've watched this film several times and enjoyed it each time. It has a heart and the drive of a man looking to solve a mystery about the loss of someone he loved dearly. Maybe not for everyone, but the critics are way too cynical! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/11/24 Full Review MURPH M The critics and many viewers here disagree with my assessment. I get it. But the film is a parable told very simply and rather beautifully. Costner is convincing. Bates is convincing. The story line is touching. It is a gentle, and still surprising film with an unique plot line. Spiritual. Human. Understandable. For the patient, the film is a find. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/17/23 Full Review Shock Therapy R I'll call this spi-fi: spiritual fiction. For someone who just lost someone the trailer and the concept are intriguing. We want to see how far a doctor can go to connect with the next life even that we know that the dead are dead… there is no cross over. The NDE angle kept the movie on life support for a longer period of time. But with all the emotional plot twists, by the time you get to "Venezuela", you can hardly remember from where you came. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Patricia P I don't understand the critics. This movie is amazing! It's in my top 5 list of my favorite movies of all times. The ending is so special and unexpected. I really recommend this movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/06/23 Full Review Gary A I thought this movie was great. The ending had a great twist. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/28/22 Full Review Christine V Personally, I like this movie and it is one of my "Top 10" of all time in my head. It is probably less to do with actor performance though and more with genre and storyline with a surprise ending I didn't see coming at all! A tear jerker, touching and magical. It is very believable if you've every believed in the supernatural. It speaks of 33 dimensions of consciousness which is how anesthetics work in medicine, very cool!
