Critics Consensus

Lovely visuals can't save Drama/Mex from its shaky camerawork and thematically uneven plot.

Drama/Mex has flashy style but puppetlike characters and unconvincing stories. Go to Full Review

This relentlessly downbeat portrait of numerous troubled characters is ultimately too derivative and familiar for it to connect with art house audiences despite some effective moments and good performances by its mainly youthful cast. Go to Full Review

Drama/Mex has an overheated plot, but it plays out at a low boil, mainly because Naranjo is more interested in the subtle stresses of human interaction than in shrill desperation. Go to Full Review

This film lets you a dry sensation in your mouth, its in some way overwhelming. Maybe the weak point its the inability to handle all the stories, its has some slumps because of it. Even that, Naranjo its a powerful and innovative, for Mexican cinema, director that has a promising career. See more Read all reviews
