For three misfit freshmen, the first day of high school becomes a living hell when Filkins (Alex Frost), the school bully, zeroes in on them. Chubby Ryan (Troy Gentile), diminutive Emmit (David Dorfman) and skinny Wade (Nate Hartley) all feel the wrath of Filkins. Realizing that their own chance for survival is to hire a bodyguard, the pals place an ad in the newspaper. I watched this recently on DVD and really enjoyed it. I found it very funny, and entertaining. I particularly liked Owen Wilson's character, but the rest of the cast were very good as well. I found the story interesting and easy to follow, and I can't remember seeing anything like it before. It's obviously not to be taken too seriously, but I can't understand why it was rated poorly by so many critics.
