Anupama Chopra Film Companion [It] doesn't have the organic seamlessness of the first film, but it's equally gripping. Mar 2, 2021 Full Review Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express It's not easy to craft murder-mystery sequels. Jeethu Joseph's film jumps over the familiarity hurdle by broadening its ambit on crime and punishment. Rated: 3/5 Mar 2, 2021 Full Review Jimmy Cage Jimmy Cage Movie Reviews (YouTube) DRISHYAM 2 continues the narrative concept of the predecessor and even if the way in which the story beats happen feels quite familiar, Jeethu Joseph still creates a damn rousing story that wonderfully continues the themes and the drama of the first film. Rated: 8/10 Mar 13, 2022 Full Review Sanjith Sidhardhan The Times of India The audience is already aware of the brilliance he is capable of and are expecting something incredible. Despite all that, it's Mohanlal's portrayal of the calculative Georgekutty - both unexcitable and distressed - that keeps them guessing and engaged. Rated: 4/5 Mar 2, 2021 Full Review Nandini Ramnath Scroll.in Drishyam 2 has the same leisurely pace and slow-burning suspense as its predecessor. Mar 2, 2021 Full Review Saibal Chatterjee NDTV The writing could have done with more punch. The guessing game at the core of Drishyam 2 isn't always gripping enough. David M Beautiful movie. Absorbing from start to finish. Great ensemble cast with Mohanlal in particular crushing it as the brooding, resolute Georgekutty. I saw it before I saw the first Drishyam and it stands on its own just fine. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/14/24 Full Review Audience Member Jeetu Joseph succeeds in spinning another interesting yarn. Although seemingly derivative from the first one it felt like this was something that he thought would be a good thing to do rather than setting out to do something completely new. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review flixster f Quite lengthy in my opinion. Besides, despite such a long runtime, it doesn't work as a standalone. Like the first part, it requires your constant attention. For once, all this wasn't much of a problem for me and I found it worthwhile overall. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Though the making is average, the movie worth a watch. It is an impressive successor to the first part Drishyam Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review yash b To be honest, I couldn't see why "Drishyam" needed any sort of sequel. The story has a good ending and I thought it could stand alone just fine. This sequel isn't quite as memorable as the first movie, but it is surprisingly effective and makes itself feel necessary. At first, the movie didn't grab me but as it progressed I became more and more invested. This resulted in a highly enjoyable second half full of twists and turns that are a lot of fun. I also liked that every detail in this movie actually comes into play in the payoff by the end so it doesn't feel like it wastes any time, even when it is a bit slower in the beginning. Overall, this is a good sequel to the original version of a story that has been remade so many times within India, so I am glad I got to check out both of these.
