Bill Goodykoontz Arizona Republic Jack Durant was, by all accounts, a larger-than-life personality, someone who would make a fascinating subject for a really good movie. "Durant's Never Closes" isn't it, alas. Rated: 2.5/5 Jan 21, 2016 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews Not that it's a bad film, it just needed to be cooked a little more. Rated: C+ Aug 2, 2016 Full Review David N. Butterworth La Movie Boeuf Tom Sizemore has long deserved a juicy leading role. Unfortunately, Jack Durant isn't it, at least not as written here. Rated: 1.5/4 Jan 24, 2016 Full Review Jennie Kermode Eye for Film Durant's Never Closes is unlikely to be a breakthrough film, but where Durant is remembered as a local force to be reckoned with, it will have strong audience appeal. Rated: 3/5 Jan 16, 2016 Full Review Mark R. Leeper Mark Leeper's Reviews Rather than having a plot, the film takes the form of a collection of vignettes and short stories--not all believable--woven into a minimalist account. Rated: 6/10 Jan 15, 2016 Full Review John Townsend Starburst For the majority of people, the name Jack Durant will be unfamiliar. Sadly, after Travis Mills' film Durant's Never Closes that will likely remain the case. Rated: 5/10 Jan 8, 2016 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member I knew nothing about Jack Durant going into this film. I was floored by Tom's acting job. He perfectly fits into the role of Jack Durant. I enjoyed the abstract scenes and the way the film seems to interweave between fantasy and reality, death and life. At the end, I knew enough about Durant to know he was a bad giy with a lot of crap behind him. This is my favorite film of running wild films. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Gritty, tough movie about Phoenix as it transitioned fro cowtown to City. Sizemore is great, if unlikeable. Like the real Durant. Underrated by critics. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Tom Sizemore's portrayal of Jack Durant in Durant's Never Closes will keep you deeply involved with this film. Playing on both the good and the bad of Jack Durant's character, you get a chance to see a glimpse of the real life of Jack Durant, the owner of the famous restaurant in Phoenix. Travis Mills of Running Wild Films has done a great job with this one. If you enjoy real stories about real people, this great Indie flick will hold your attention. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member A great film, Tom Sizemore fits the shoe and gives a gruff and emotional performance. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member This film tells the story of Phoenix restaurateur and man of mystery, Jack Durant. He was believed to have mob ties and many of the city's business elite would dine and conduct business at Durant's. It is said that the 1976 assassination of Arizona Republic reporter, Don Bolles, was planned over a meal in its dining room. Bolles' murder remains unsolved in the minds of many. Durant's restaurant, founded in 1950, still stands today and remains one of the most popular dining spots in town. Tom Sizemore brilliantly captures the larger than life character of Jack Durant, one of Phoenix's most controversial figures. We follow Durant through a day in his restaurant. After this day, things will never be the same. The supporting cast helps paint a beautiful portrait of a time gone by and the events that changed Arizona forever. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member This film was both entertaining and informative, weaving drama, light humor, historical events and documentary-style, real-life accounts of Jack Durant, his business and lifestyle. I especially appreciated how metaphorical imagery, creative techniques of camera panning, slow motion, and symbolism were used to convey flashback and dreams, and the mindset of Jack Durant.
