Audience Member Dweepa (Island) is a 2002 Kannada Movie directed by Girish Kasaravalli. It tells the story of a family that is the last inhabitant of an island which the government wants to evacuate for building a dam. The island is used as a symbolic representation of our minds isolated from others believes and convictions. Its the story about how optimism and hope helps the protagonist (an award winning performance by Soundarya) overcome the hardships she faces from nature and her relationship with her husband.
