Ben Kenigsberg New York Times It's less a social history than a commercial for alternative healing. Audience Member A well done look into a pair, that most my age and younger, had really never seen together before. I found it interesting that Leary passed in 96', but it wasn't until 2014 that it was released. Perhaps the most profound thing that I came away with, was the infectious certainty, that both men seemed to exude in their own way, that the end is the beginning, and the beginning is the end. In Allpert it seemed more organic, and in Leary, more in spirit. Leary, to me, was more childlike and free of expectation through his life, and also at that moment of passing. I used to buy copies of Be Here Now, and give them to friends I thought would benefit from it. I'm not sure, but it almost seemed that the one that most benefitted from it in Allpert's life, was Leary. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Speaking as someone who experienced well over 100 LSD trips in my late teens and early 20's, I found this to be a well-produced and poignant documentary about Ram Dass (who I previously did not know) and the enigmatic Harvard psychologist Dr. Timothy Leary. Become acquainted with your soul in this life...and Death becomes a part of life that you will understand and look forward to instead of fearing. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Not only an interesting docu on two historical visionaries, but the candid story of two best friends whose capacity for love will touch your heart. Robert Redford's narration is as good as it gets. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member this is not really a movie which attempts a critical analysis of the place these two enigmatic and charismatic figures have held in the history of spirituality. it's more of a fond embrace than a cold dissection. and that's exactly what it should be, in my opinion. it's a love story in which only one person was in love. it's about other realms of consciousness but also very much about THIS realm, and what happens when we're about to exit. it's a recounting of a life long friendship, as well as an illustration of how life can pull you away from the people you love. in other words - it's real. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Great insight into this piece of American history and politics. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member One of the best documentaries I've ever seen. Leary and Dass become part of you for a while and you'll never regret the experience Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Read all reviews
