Theres little reason to check out Dynasty Warriors if youre not familiar with any of its source material. In fact, its highly advisable that your first foray into the Three Kingdoms period not be this film.

I'm shocked. This movie was actually awesome! Epic, insane, and fantastical. A true homage to the video games. They need to make another and continue the story! There are so many more warriors we need to see! I am sure that by the reception of this movie there will not be a continuation, but man I sure wish there was going to be. I could easily see a grand epic telling of this series in many movies and/or shows.

You have to really be a fan of Dynasty Warriors to understand the fantasy and also historical events to understand the movie. The rise of power Cao Cao and Liu Bei went through, has a complex in this film. I personally like the action and elements used in this movie because it is in games also. This game was a hack and slash inspired of Romance of the three kingdoms games.

This movie isn't nearly as bad as the critics say, and not nearly as good as it could have been. As a fan of the video game franchise, I recognize I am looking at this film through rose colored glasses by giving it a 4.5 stars. However, Dynasty Warriors does a fantastic job showing off the god-like powers of the heroes, cutting down thousands of enemies with ease. The plot suffered from trying to cram too much story into a movie, had they switched to television, they could have slowed down the pace, fleshed out the characters, and elevated the fight scenes. Overall, it was a fun movie.
