S R 1001 movies to see before you die. An interesting story and a well made movie. Elaborate sets, costumes and over the top acting. Saw on YouTube. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/24 Full Review Audience Member The funniest (silent) adventure movie ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review William L I'm sure at one point, The Eagle was considered an exciting adventure film. But people used to think that a stick and hoop were the greatest entertainment a child could have, so I don't know if that says much. The Eagle is competently made on a technical level and has classic swashbuckler elements, but there's very little to distinguish it from contemporaries; it's an unashamed Zorro ripoff adapted to a different setting. There's nothing really wrong with it, but not much (apart from some of the set design) to make it memorable either. One of those '?' moments on the 1001 Movies. (2.5/5) Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/21 Full Review Audience Member The best thrilling movie ever made! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member This was so charming and funny and Valentino is looking FffffiiiiiinnnnnNNNNeeeee. His hands are beautiful. His face is beautiful. Everything is beautiful. Also the Czarina trying to hold Valentino's face down by her crotch is iconic. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Such a good silent movie! Rudolph Valentino is really good in this! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Mordaunt Hall New York Times This is a satisfying picture in which Mr. Brown introduces some interesting touches. Mar 25, 2006 Full Review Irish Times Staff Irish Times Admirers of Rudolph Valentino will appreciate a film in which there is every opportunity for the display of those dashing’ qualities which have made Valentino so popular. Dec 14, 2023 Full Review Dennis Harvey 48 Hills Not a career peak for Clarence Brown, whose resume would encompass later classics like The Yearling, National Velvet, Intruder in the Dust and Idiot’s Delight, plus myriad glossy celluloid pedestals for Gable, Garbo, and Crawford. But it is good fun. Nov 30, 2023 Full Review Robert E. Sherwood LIFE The Eagle, which is a rather complicated story of old Russia, is strengthened materially by the presence of Vilma Banky and by the fact that it never attempts to take itself seriously.
