Rated 1.5/5 Stars •  Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member This Mongolian tale takes place in the mountains of Kazakhstan where a nomadic young boy is separated from his older brother who is sent to the big city of Ulan Bator to earn money for the family so they can a attend a proper school. As son of an Eagle Hunter (think of falconry with an eagle) he must master the art of eagle hunting but has difficulties with the training. Feeling a failure he seeks his brother out in the big city at the same time learning to understand the nature of his eagle. Though a fascinating observation and study in the conflicts and differences between rural and urban life the story breaks down as metaphysical elements of the connection of the eagle to the rest of the family are added without creating a context for this fantastical universe.
