Moody C I was lucky to catch this gem as a late night movie on TV. The feeling I got after watching it was the same when I saw CODA. Unfortunately, this movie probably did not have same budget or major company backing it so never got the recognition it truly deserves. It's a really beautiful movie with a very moving performance by main actress. I honestly always wonder why I never saw a female sushi chef myself. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/28/23 Full Review David M Beautiful bicultural movie that shows a lot of current issues going on today, all wrapped up in a cute movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/10/22 Full Review Audience Member LOL, the funniest 1.5 hours ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member If you want a light hearted movie that passes time, this is a good movie. My greatest concern of the movie is that I don't know whether it promotes woman's right and racial integration, or it insults the Japanese culture. While it usually takes years of training for one to become a sushi chef, this talented young girl from a totally different cultural background did it in matters of months. It discounts the professionalism of the sushi chefs, as well as the influence of cultural background to a cuisine. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member A heartwarming story about hard work and following your dreams. It also covers racial identity, sexism, and, of course, food. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/20/21 Full Review Audience Member I saw this movie before it's last day on Netflix. I wish I had watched it earlier because it's so good.
