Critics Consensus

It owes a huge debt to older (and better) teen comedies, but Easy A proves a smart, witty showcase for its irresistibly charming star, Emma Stone.

Tom S I absolutely love this movie. I've watched it many times. I might be biased because I i think emma is a great actress. It's a romantic comedy coming of age film that I think everybody should see at least once Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/09/25 Full Review Audience Member not my favorite. only watched for penn badgley tbh. weird topic. lots of cussing in my opinion for a PG-13 movie Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/08/25 Full Review Audience Member A John Hughes-inspired take on “The Scarlet Letter”. Easily a staple high-school film for most millennials, starring one of the most talented millennial actresses—Emma Stone. While it’s heavily influenced by the 1980s coming-of-age classics, there is enough aughts energy to justify millennials’ claim to it. Being a popular film released in 2010, it has some poorly aging, edgy humor, and scenes that produced GIFs that arguably eclipse the film itself’s popularity. Amanda Bynes goes out on top as the character actress that could have been with this amazing last role, as of now at least. It will likely prove itself as an evergreen, high school film that future generations will continue to discover. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/07/25 Full Review Garreth Keith T I look for just a few things with movies. Good acting, a consistent plot, with believable goals, and characters moving the story forward. This definitely checked those boxes. Strong thematic messages about sexuality and acceptance, not profoundly portrayed, but done so competently. Enjoyed this one. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/22/25 Full Review O g Not as bad as you think it's going to be but this is very much a film for the median 13 year old girl Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/05/25 Full Review O C E A N E Personally, no matter what others may think of this movie, I truly believe it is a great film. I am 15 years old, so it was released just a year after I was born. However, even when I watched it at the age of 11—ten years after its release—I found it captivating, entertaining, and surprisingly timeless. Of course, it is not a film to be taken too seriously, as it relies on humor, exaggeration, and sometimes absurd situations to deliver its message. But that is precisely what makes it so enjoyable. One important thing to remember when watching this movie is that the mindset in 2010 was very different from what it is in 2025. Certain jokes or situations may seem outdated or even controversial by today’s standards, but they reflect the culture and humor of their time. Instead of judging it by modern expectations, I think it’s best to appreciate it for what it is—a fun, lighthearted film that doesn’t take itself too seriously. If you’re looking for a movie that is easy to watch, genuinely funny, and even carries a subtle moral, then this is a great choice. The characters are engaging, the dialogue is sharp, and the situations are often so exaggerated that they become hilarious. Of course, it’s not for everyone. If you are uncomfortable with intimate or slightly provocative scenes, you might find certain moments a bit awkward. However, if you can take it with a sense of humor and an open mind, you will most likely enjoy it. Overall, this movie may not be a masterpiece, but it is definitely worth watching if you want to have a good time. It proves that even after many years, some films still manage to entertain, make people laugh, and leave a lasting impression. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/18/25 Full Review Read all reviews
