      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

It frequently fumbles its attempts to balance cringe comedy and sincere drama, but Tony Hale's charm helps keep Eat Wheaties! from getting soggy.

Sara W Loved it! Would definitely recommend for a fun movie that will put a smile on your face Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/06/23 Full Review Anu S This movie is a feel good comedy. I found it funny without an excessive messaging. Just an old fashioned fun movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/18/23 Full Review Chris D Every once in a while you come across a little obscure movie that you just know is going to become a cult classic and one you'll watch over and over. That's this movie for me. I just loved Sid. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/12/23 Full Review Audience Member I loved it, very entertaining. Quirky characters that have charm. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review paul s I liked this. I've been Sid. A few times in life, I've been treated like an outcast by unfriendly people. Along the way, I've had to socially acclimate to different social settings and it wasn't always easy. It stood out to me how mean people can be to this very kind character just because he was socially different. I've regretted that there have been times when I was on the mean side of this equation. This was worth my time. At times, it made me feel cringy, sad, and warmed in the heart. I enjoyed the quirky humor. Well done. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Not what I was expecting at all this was actually sad but guy was a creep 2.2. Almost feel bad for the real actor that it was so easy to believe Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/19/21 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Wendy Ide Observer (UK) Attempts to redeem the character in the final act, not wholly successfully. Rated: 2/5 Nov 13, 2022 Full Review Phil Hoad Guardian The sitcom-ish direction drags it further in the direction of complacency, but Hale and the focused writing ensure it has a kind-hearted integrity. Rated: 3/5 Nov 8, 2022 Full Review Anne T. Donahue Globe and Mail The thing is, despite its unique premise, Eat Wheaties! is easy to embrace. May 8, 2021 Full Review Terry Staunton Radio Times Scott Abramovitch paints a portrait of a well-meaning but often naive man who is undone by his own good intentions, with the cringeworthy moments nicely tempered by warmer comic interludes. Rated: 3/5 Apr 5, 2023 Full Review Mitchell Beaupre Awards Radar There’s an earnestness to this film that finds exactly the right register in which to speak truth to what we all need to hear a little bit more of these days. Rated: 2.5/4 Sep 22, 2022 Full Review Carson Timar Clapper With an emotionally satisfying conclusion, Eat Wheaties! is a worthwhile viewing experience that is legitimately enjoyable.
