Bosley Crowther New York Times The symbolism with which Director Gustav Machaty attempts to point up the theme of romantic frustration and ultimate fulfillment rather heightens the confusion on the whole, though there are a few isolated instances when it is strikingly effective. Rated: 2.5/5 Nov 13, 2007 Full Review Jonathan Rosenbaum Chicago Reader It still has its charms, both cinematic and sensual. Nov 13, 2007 Full Review Dave Kehr Chicago Reader Unfortunately, the film has aged badly, and today is mainly a curiosity piece. Nov 13, 2007 Full Review Herbert Cohn Brooklyn Daily Eagle Experimentally it was a dud. It was a bad motion picture --slow, poorly played, pretentiously arty and uncommonly dull, for all of the hullabaloo it caused. Jun 10, 2021 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins Despite the blatant nudity, there's still plenty of subtler, suggestive imagery to represent Eva's overflowing desires. Rated: 4/10 Jul 27, 2020 Full Review James T. Hamada The Nippu Jiji (Honolulu) Outside of the two sequences mentioned above, I found the picture was punk. Many of the scenes have too many petty and unnecessary details. Apr 14, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member my review: http://wp.me/p1eXom-21D Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Ecstasy boasts some lovely montage sequences of nature and such and it is interesting to see an early sound film. However, the subtitling was off, and while there wasn't much dialogue it was enough to be annoying. It's an interesting film as a piece of history, but it's a tad long and spare. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Interesting to see from the historical point of view (history of cinema) because it was the first orgasm and the first naked scene in history. Of course it has been overcome by years, but few first-to-do movies can stand passing time. My reference is to the 1933 movie, not to the one which is described in the info and cast. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member The film was more captivating for its time. All we can do now is reflect on how controversial it may have been Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member This pre-code film was scandalous at the time of its release. These days it's tame but beautiful nonetheless. Lamarr's ability to convey her sadness and longing with very little dialogue is a tribute not only to her skill but the power of silent (or in this case near silent) cinema. I loved this movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member I did not have a great experience on this movie and it's left a bad taste in my mouth, but many have praised it throughout my career so I guess it worked out in the end.
