It’s bad when there’s only one person in the whole movie who you like. The only reason I gave two stars is because I get the movie. It’s a powerful film, and honestly scares the me. I mean, are there kids that really act like or would act like this? Probably. So here’s a couple who are systematically abused and tortured by a group of kids and you just end up feeling for the couple. BUT Fassbender’s character is kinda stupid so he brought this on himself, at least in a way. I have to say that Jack O’Connell plays his part extremely well, albeit extremely unhinged. I honestly thought that was the worst, but I stand corrected. The main characters have to be the dumbest people on the planet, and everything they do is stupid, and completely unbelievable. Whoever wrote the script should be tarred and feathered and the director should never work again. The plot is ridiculous, the characters are 1000% not credible, and the ending is a complete and utter nightmare. It was so bad, that towards the end, I was praying that the main characters would just kill themselves and save the bad guys the trouble. If people in real life had the survival instinct of the main characters in this movie, we would surely almost be extinct. Do Not torture yourself watching this junk. It is an hour and a half wasted in my life that I can’t get back. Absolutely do not recommend..with prejudice. Negative 5 stars (-5) if I could help it. Note… also put this in the "Horror" genre. See more Shooty B Nov 18 Look, I like depressing endings as much as the next person, but there's just nothing in this movie to like. It's not really scary. It's just sadistic. I feel like it was trying to be like a South Korean film, but the problem is that the characters are all completely flat. There's just nothing here. I will say that something this dark will stick with you, but more in a "why would you think this was a good idea for a movie" way, than thinking about what you just saw. It's just a weird decision. See more James W Nov 18 James Watkins should never try directing again. This is easily one of the worst movies I've ever seen in my life. There was no meaningful plot point and this movie was a waste of time. A nothing burger. This movie was like smelling a stinky fart. In fact I'd rather suck that smelly stinky fart out of my own reeking butthole then to even think about watching the trailer for this movie, let alone sitting through it again. I wish I could get that time back. Watching this movie I learned that I should value my time more wisely. If I ever see James Watkins in real life, I promise he will stop directing.
