Martin B Simply a horrible movie. Dana Andrews and Farley Granger had only one character they could play so that's the characters you see in this movie. Granger's character simply annoying. Disagreeable, antogonistic and confrontational with everyone he came in contact with. Andrews character more a moderator then anything explaining away the bad behavior of Granger's character. In the end Granger's character sees the light which we knew would happen because they told us at the beginning it would. I've always stayed away from Dana Andrews movies, decided to watch this one and realized why I avoided them in the first place. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/08/24 Full Review william k Unusual noir drama irritates with an unconvincing pious message a disturbingly over-heated performance by Farley Granger, but it's nevertheless a fascinating watch. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member A powerful, dark picture. Hollywood back in 1950. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member The most downbeat, unrelentingly grim movie ever made. That it dared to criticize organized religion in1950 makes it a remarkable film. It contains the best scene from any film of this genre in which Martin's down and out neighbor explains to him that although it's a rich world no one is giving you anything, that you must be prepared to take it from them. The speech gives the viewer the thoughts of a man gripped by despair...riveting and thought provoking.
