      Critics Consensus

Although it falls short as a biopic of the fascinating figure at its center, Edge of the World offers a visually and dramatically engaging glimpse of Victorian-era colonialism.

Craig C Not bad a little slow Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/24 Full Review Conchi R Tiene unos paisajes impresionantes Y las actuaciones muy buenas Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/24 Full Review Chris G This film is lacking something… I think it's the sense of scale. James is king of a vast country, but you only see a couple of small villages and subjects. If you really fancy a jungle set movie, then give it a go, but keep your expectations low. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 11/26/23 Full Review Dragel 8 One of those beautiful insightful movies. Really enjoyed it! Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 05/16/23 Full Review jelisije j Based on an actually true story that at the end of the day left me wanting more from this satisfying story. Phuong Le Guardian Edge of the World might work as an ode to bygone swashbuckling classics, but Brooke deserves a much more nuanced biopic. Rated: 2/5 Jun 14, 2021 Full Review Lindsey Bahr Associated Press While it might not knock it out of the park, "Edge of the World" is still a very solid watch if a little slow-going and might also just inspire you to revisit some of the classics its indebted to which is its own small triumph. Rated: 2.5/4 Jun 5, 2021 Full Review Michael Nordine Variety If the film can't help but feel like a relic from a bygone era, that's ultimately part of its appeal - the sun may have finally set on the British Empire, but at least it hasn't yet set on this mode of storytelling. Jun 3, 2021 Full Review Toni Vall Cinemanía (Spain) A rare bird, not because of what it's like but because it makes you ask: why was it made? [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 2/5 Aug 25, 2021 Full Review Audrey Fox JumpCut Online Despite the best efforts of the cast, Edge of the World rarely rises above a surface-level exploration of an iconoclastic, non-traditional English adventurer. Aug 19, 2021 Full Review Ayeen Forootan In Review Online The film [is] an unbalanced mix of narrative clichés and simplistic action-adventure dramatics that proves absolutely enervating.
