Nigel Andrews Financial Times The audience, unfortunately, will regret if they get snarled up in this 2 1/2 hours' traffic jam of song, schmaltz, and melodrama. Jan 22, 2020 Full Review Patrick Gibbs Daily Telegraph (UK) Fairly factual. I dare say, but rather embarrassing to this spectator. Jan 22, 2020 Full Review Tim Pulleine Guardian The film is exhilarating. Here is a director in total command of his medium, reveling in Piafs conspicuous consumption. Jan 22, 2020 Full Review Film4 Staff Film4 A lavish, empty reverential film of strictly limited appeal outside France. Jan 15, 2008 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Lelouch version of the Edith Piaf/Marcel Cerdan love story is accompanied by fictional love story that is less interesting and somewhat repetitive. Lelouch camera flourishes abound, but the music and production design are great and make up for somewhat mixed result with storyline and performances.
