Henry Sheehan Chicago Reader Edward Scissorhands is a flashy and entertaining apologia from an artist who has not accumulated enough work to justify such self-concern. Rated: 3/4 May 24, 2022 Full Review Marc Lee Daily Telegraph (UK) Burton's modern fairytale has an almost palpably personal feel: it is told gently, subtly and with infinite sympathy for an outsider who charms the locals but then inadvertently arouses their baser instincts. Rated: 5/5 Dec 17, 2014 Full Review Jonathan Rosenbaum Chicago Reader An original movie, though not Tim Burton's best. Jun 17, 2008 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins With equal portions of humor and heart, this inventive, touching, poetic fairy tale is highly memorable. Rated: 8/10 Nov 8, 2024 Full Review Cory Woodroof For the Win (USA Today) For a guy who has made some really great movies, this is very much one of Burton’s best and most heart-wrenching. Sep 5, 2024 Full Review Alan Jones Radio Times The finale packs an unforgettable emotional wallop, assisted by Danny Elfman's gloriously magical score. sym a Edward Scissorhands is a 1990 American Christmas film directed by Tim Burton. It combines several , fantasy, romantic and comedy. Honestly Edward Scissor Hands is a great movie. It presents an Edward who has scissors instead of hands and is atypical. In the film he will try to integrate but will also fall in love. He will go through all the emotions, love, anger, joy, sadness and disappointment. I liked this film for its way of being so realistic and touching. All the characters are different and original, the mother filled with kindness welcomes the main character into her home and who never stops helping him and believing in him. The aspect of teenage life is also present with Kim's friends. Personally my favorite moment was when Kim was dancing in the snow that Edward was producing. The scene was just magical, the characters were both captivating. However, the film being quite old has a quality that leaves something to be desired. Not to mention a rather disappointing ending that shows a relative failure of the main character... Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/10/25 Full Review JOHAN L Edward Scissorhands tells the story of Edward, a man with scissors instead of hands. He used to live alone in a castle, but Peg takes him in her house. After several accidents, he flees to the castle. Kim finds him and confesses her love, while Jim is killed by Edward. Kim proves his innocence and pretends he's dead. I didn't really like the film because I didn't find it very captivating or deep. It's an old film, so the sets are badly done and it's hard to get into the story. The main character doesn't say much, which makes it hard to get attached to him. Then, the ending is brutal and swift. However, the relationship that Peg and Kim develop with Edward is touching, and his talents allow him to fit in well with the neighborhood. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/25 Full Review LE-BRIS-PRIGENT E Edward, a robot skin but a human heart I LOVED THIS MOVIE ! Edward Scissorhand, a 90’s film by Tim Burton which talks about a creation, a « robot » who’s has the same abilities as a human being. Edward is gonna be included in a world where he doesn’t belong. During this time, he discovered what love is, he meet Kim and will fallen hardly in love with her. At the end Edward become aware that he can’t leave in this world, but Kim loves him. We c,an ask a key question ; To what extent is difference a problem in society? With Edward ( the protagonist ), a perfect personification of difference, we can say that difference is always disturbing for others. I love the contrast between a normal world where all people are same, quite boring by the way, and the Edward’s world which is dark and singular. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/25 Full Review SAULAIS A Edwards Scissorshand is a movie produced by Tim burton in 1990. It talks about a man who’s named Edward. He lived in a castle situated on the top of a mountain. He has scissorshand. One day a woman named Kim came to the castle saw Edward. She decided to invite him in her home. The presence of Edward started to be criticised. He decided to go back to his home because he was too much criticised. The movie isn’t bad but this isn’t the best. It is a bit old. The scenario is a bit easy. We can’t be attached too much to Edward because he doesnt talk too much in the movie. Even if I didn’t like much the movie my favourite part is when Edward cut everyone’s hair and garden. It is creative and funny. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/09/25 Full Review Lise G Edward Scissorhands is a modern tale who has been produced by Tim Burton in 1990. It tells the story of Edward, a man created by a scientist who died before finishing him, leaving Edward with scissors instead of hands. This particularity isolates him from the society until a woman named Pegg discovers him and invites him to her home and family. But progressively, his particularity and his talent attract suspicion and rejection of his neighborhood. In my opinion, this movie is a great representation of the social pressure that leads us to try to change ourselves and an good life lesson. I also like the exaggerated style of the characters and the setting with the similar houses and, for example, characters like Joyce. But, the scenario wasn’t as good as I thought because it was very predictable and tasteless so it was difficult to focus on it (expect maybe for the end). Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/08/25 Full Review BAUSSANT E This film that combines humor and love tells a very beautiful story. Moving characters including Scissorhands who will discover self-confidence and love since he falls in love with Kim their meeting is at least full of humor even if the end is tragic since Scissorhands will kill Kim's ex-boyfriend. This film also shows that you should not trust appearances. The ending particularly moved me given that out of love Kim will pretend to be Joyce's killer in order to save the man she loves.
