Undergoing open heart surgery, and under the influence of anesthesia, filmmaker Yehia (Nour El-Sherif) imagines an elaborate trial at which he faces prepubescent (Oussama Nadir) and teenage (Mohsen Mohi El-dine) versions of himself against the backdrop of Egyptian history and of his own career. Different times and places collide as versions of Yehia confront family members, witness revolution and travel to international film festivals in search of success.
