Audience Member El Hombre de al Lado [Duprat, Cohn, 2009] Artistically minimalist, and yet very profound. 7.5/10 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Odd film has an intriguing plot and great cast. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Una buena sorpresa esta historia sobre las diferencias y la tolerancia. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Una buena sorpresa esta historia sobre las diferencias y la tolerancia. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Well-off designer's weird neighbour decides to build a window to catch some sunlight - the problem is that it faces the architect's own window. Tensions rise as the architect's inability to deal with his erratic neighbour and his own demanding wife becomes apparent. Disquieting, multi-layered analogy of modern society's social divide is entertaining, but has been pitched as a comedy even though it's mostly devoid of laughs, and has an ending that feels random after the gradual buildup that was mad before it. Also, directors Cohn and Duprat overindulge on long running shots where nothing seems to happen a little too often. Still, for all it's shortcomings we have some compensation; Araoz stands out as the often menacing neighbour. and Spregelburg is good at transmitting the painful awkwardness of the situation. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Tense, funny and surprising, El Hombre de al Lado it's a vision of the different social class, they mistakes, how this two worlds collide and an intense mental debate about the obstacle that divide this society. Fresh. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
