John Beifuss Commercial Appeal (Memphis, TN) Unlike Tim Burton's 'Ed Wood,' it doesn't make a convincing case for Orol as an artist, even a demented or incompetent one. The film shows us little of Orol's work; we don't know why critics hated his movies, or why the public liked them. Rated: 2.5/4 Jul 29, 2013 Full Review Jamie S. Rich Oregonian There's a good story here. Too bad del Amo's shallow nostalgia fails to ignite any of the melodramatic passion, or the accidental comedy, Orol's own films may possess. Audience Member A good/bad film about The worst best Mexican director. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member A nice little film about the rise and eventual withering away of the B movie film maker Juan Orol. The film itself is actually quite funny and over the top many times, but the main actor holds it together well. It has a lot of glamour. Lots of nods to film noire and movies from the past. I appreciated the movie a lot and would recommended finding it if you can! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
