Audience Member Amazing interaction between the animals. I think this is the best part of this movie. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member What comes out of the "tail end" of this one is pretty awful. Up to the climax, I thought that this silly story almost worked. The idea of using real animal footage and attaching African voices to it was nearly pulled off. And the theme of poaching is a timely and urgent message. Coupled with the paficism idea, this could actually be passable as a film. However, the events that transpire in the end aren't suited for backyard filmmaking. For children up to about 7 years old, this might be worth putting on for them while you do something more productive, like anything else. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member An Australia-France co-production, this movie films footage of African animals and voices over to tell a story. The shots are gorgeous, but the English narration is not really the best; at least, I thought most of the animal voices were good, but the two protagonist elephants were a little off. Especially since the protagonists are supposed to be brothers, and they are voiced by a boy and a girl. Also, while the cheetah narrators have African accents and some side characters like the cattle or the cranes have British-sounding accents, why are the protagonist elephants American? Other than the voice complaints, the story is interesting if simplistic, probably for the ease of introducing the "badness" of illegal poaching and death to children. I loved the inter-species interactions, especially between the chimpanzee and the giraffe, and the chimpanzee and the lion cub. It was cute and fun, and great to watch even for adults, if you like animals. It was also interesting to see how young elephants could already be trained to act in a movie, and how well a chimp could be trained; as opposed to giraffes, vultures, and the other animals in the film, which could only be fed or watered. Great movie! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member I thought when I first started watching this that it was going to be weak and not that good. However not the case it was so good. Didn't realise that Dorinda Hafner was in it thought I recognised the voice but it was so heartwarming and the bad men got their justice in the end. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member While the pictures and film of the animals were not bad the voice over, and sound were terrible. Small kids will enjoy this but it may be hard for there parents to watch with them. They also used the words stupid and dumb quite a bit which are not words that I personally don't like or use. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Way too silly to really work, but I very much enjoyed the live action scenes of the African wildlife. It's too bad they didn't create a better story around the great nature footage. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews
