Critics Consensus

Beautiful scenery and a solid star turn from Anthony Mackie raise Elevation up to an extent, but this sci-fi thriller is too derivative to reach the peak of its potential.

Christy Lemire FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) Everyone is solid in this and you see a lot of lovely aerial shots of the Rocky Mountains. Nov 13, 2024 Full Review Brianna Zigler AV Club It’s odd and impersonal, and produces a film that feels just as detached from its visual style as it does from its characters. Rated: D Nov 9, 2024 Full Review William Bibbiani TheWrap There are exactly enough thrills to fill a 90-minute movie, including the closing credits. No more and no less. So thank god Elevation is short or it probably would have stunk. Nov 9, 2024 Full Review Steven Prokopy Third Coast Review I guess the creature design is interesting, but it doesn’t come close to making Elevation anything close to compelling. Rated: 1.5/4 Nov 21, 2024 Full Review Robert Roten Laramie Movie Scope Mackie, Baccarin and Hasson all give strong performances in this film. The interplay of these three characters is the strongest part of this movie, and is the real heart of this story. This is really a suspense movie, combined with a character study. Rated: B Nov 17, 2024 Full Review Michael Cook KLRT-TV I do have a bit of a soft heart for it [the film], but it is kinda of a Quiet Place rip-off/derivative. Rated: 6.5/10 Nov 15, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews
