Ronald H Whatever you think of "people stuck in an elevator" movies, it's a pleasure to see John Getz here, whose performance in the Coen brothers' 1984 Blood Simple was unforgettable. He's done a lot of film work since, but nothing equal to his portrayal of the hapless Ray in that noir classic. Actually, all of the cast of Elevator is good. As to the plot, it's typical thriller fare. One of the passengers has a bomb, and the ensuing hysteria is predictable but nonetheless entertaining. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/30/23 Full Review Regina P It passes the time... there's not much to chew on here. It's a class warfare revenge tale. Not the worst for it's budget and genre. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 06/05/23 Full Review Dennis D Weird movie --but entertaining to me. Watch it you be the judge. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review martin a A group of people ends up trapped in a lift with a woman who has strapped a bomb to herself. The woman dies and the lift gets stuck, and then the occupants have to find a way to escape, not a bad film at all Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review robert p Not a bad little independant little film that has the Devil of a time!!! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Elevator is a simple movie with a simple premise, nine strangers become trapped in an elevator with a bomb set to blow, and their only option is to band together to survive the ordeal. The film tries to borrow elements from Crash, by throwing in racial tension but it never comes across believable and feels completely forced to add conflict. Much like the horror film, Devil, the movie mostly takes place inside the elevator and our myriad of stereotypical characters carry the film to the end. There are no stars in this film, only a few familiar faces, the guy who played Kevin's abusive older brother, Buzz in Home Alone is as good as it gets. The story plays out fairly typically, though with a much smaller body-count than I anticipated and really only began to surprise me towards the end when the characters have to make a critical decision. The film also confusingly sets up a possible, but unlikely, villain among the group based on decisions she makes, but it all amounts to nothing more than coincidence, which is pretty infuriating. It's a brisk, cheap thriller that doesn't overstay its welcome and features a clever hook, but doesn't do a whole lot with it. Anton Bitel Projected Figures Suspended on the 47th floor, this lift will stage a volatile collision of the higher-ups and lower-downs, all caught in the glare of a sensationalised, uncaring media. Which is to say that, clichs and all, Elevator is about us today, going down. Aug 31, 2012 Full Review Scott Weinberg FEARnet At one point a guy gets his arm chopped off and everyone gets sprayed with blood, and that does prove a welcome respite from the spittle-laden diatribes. Rated: 2/5 Aug 28, 2012 Full Review Shaun Munro What Culture This is a breezy, to-the-point thriller. Rated: 3/5 Aug 25, 2012 Full Review Steve Dread Central Elevator is a taut, intense, and surprisingly violent little movie that is home to some great performances, awesome sound design, and some truly slick thrills.
