Pare Lorentz Vanity Fair If anyone missed the other performances of Elmer they may be surprised to find Joe E. Brown actually playing straight in this one; a task seemingly impossible for Hollywood comedians, but one which adds a great deal to the pleasure of the audience. James S 90 minutes of my life that I’ll never get back. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/30/24 Full Review Audience Member Funny, engrossing comedy with Joe E. Brown's actions and reactions the star of the show. Here, he is helped by Sterling Holloway, another rising star. Crowds clamored to see this movie in the midst of the depression, and it's a film that, with a few tweaks, would do well today. Joe E. Brown was a major star who would continue acting another thirty-some years in some of the most well known movies of our time. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member The best comedy movie ever made! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Part of the Joe E. Brown "Baseball Trilogy."
