Mimansha S With the desire of freedom when you haven't experienced the complexity of it as well as desire for preservance with tinge of primal survival and sustenance Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/11/22 Full Review bryan b Scifi version of memento and 50 first dates. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie was one of the biggest wastes of my time and money. By far, the worst movie I have ever seen. It appears to attempt at an artsy portrayal of a loss of memory, vaguely reminiscent of Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, but the lack of interesting characters AND plot makes this movie complete garbage. The concept of characters with no memory appears to be enticing, but this movie confuses memory and personality, and fails to have a single engaging character the audience feels invested in. This is my least favorite movie of all time. Don't waste your energy. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review ian b Clever. Thoughtful but slow Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Moving, thoughtful sci-fi drama with an incredible concept and rich characters Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member https://chicago.suntimes.com/entertainment/today-at-the-chicago-international-film-festival-embers/ Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Bill Stamets Chicago Sun-Times This sci-fi indie... imagines a near-future dystopia where retrograde and anterograde amnesia afflict humanity... Director Claire Carre and co-writer/producer Charles Spano artfully design five story lines for a tragic take on the loss of self-knowledge. Rated: 3/4 Feb 15, 2019 Full Review Michael Rechtshaffen Los Angeles Times While one wishes Carr, who shares screenplay credit with Charles Spano, might have hung those stirring visuals on more involving plotting, "Embers" nevertheless makes a strong, not to mention timely, impression. Aug 5, 2016 Full Review Anton Bitel Sight & Sound Carr weaves from her ensemble amnesi-apocalypse a reflection of the human condition as philosophically compelling as it is emotionally intelligent, while celebrating our species' tenacious resilience... Apr 27, 2016 Full Review David Walsh World Socialist Web Site It's an odd film, with a lot of intensity and three interesting performances, but somewhat dull or blunted in its outlook and impact. Jul 8, 2020 Full Review Emilie Black Cinema Crazed The film makes its viewers think and does not take them for idiots. Rated: 4/5 Apr 19, 2020 Full Review C.J. Prince Way Too Indie On the surface, Carré's film looks like standard post-apocalyptic fare, but its tone is anything but. May 22, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews
