Jackie K. Cooper jackiekcooper.com It looks like your run of the mill sci-fi adventure - but it's not. Luke Hemsworth underplays his part and is that much more effective. Plus the movie has just enough of a twist to keep you watching every scene for clues as to what is going on. Rated: 6/10 Oct 9, 2019 Full Review Alex Saveliev Film Threat With its slapdash editing, poor effects and a central creature that resembles a chopped-up Audrey II from The Little Shop of Horrors, Encounter sadly does little to improve Luke Hemsworth's filmography. Rated: 3/10 Oct 1, 2019 Full Review Robert Kojder Flickering Myth There's just no way one talented actor can salvage inexperienced production. Encounter is a mess from beginning to end, and if the alien was real I doubt even it could repair the damage here Rated: 1/5 Sep 29, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

Ian B Alien water melon crashes into field, takes an ice bath, gets abducted by humans and inside a slightly cramped garage gets to know its captors. Hoping to learn the plot, the said alien fails and leaves it to the "dying" moments of the movie to do something that is as pathetic and useless as it is baffling. Possibly the worst Boxing Day movie I've encountered. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/26/23 Full Review Star G Made fun of Christians throughout, and the very last scene had what appeared to be a naked 11 year old girl facing a ROOM FULL of adults. That was very upsetting. Even if it was costume (Which I could not tell)-- it was the appearance of things. Very upsetting. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/16/23 Full Review Nigel R Very feeble. The dialogue, writing, effects, and concept are all sketchy. Like a student movie, only lacking the imagination and enthusiasm. Does my review contain spoilers? No, because there is very little to spoil. The British movie Cosmos (2019) was made for virtually nothing, and still has more heart and soul than this paltry offering. Luke Hemsworth is probably the one performance of the movie that at least elevates it to watchable in parts, owing to his not overacting with a less than stellar script. Bad editing throughout doesn't help, nor do obvious howlers such as a G-man scanning with a Tascam recorder, or a clearly non-magnetic wedding band being magnetically sucked on to the alien entity. In fairness, it kept me watching, in hope of a good twist or denouement - that never came. On the upside: it is possible Mystery Science Theater fodder. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 06/13/23 Full Review Audience Member So bad it’s actually good. I didn’t see the ending coming. Interesting premise that, with a ton of rewrites and better acting/directing might actually make a decent movie. Bit of a time-waster when you want something to watch but don’t actually want to have to think. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Arghhh, this movie from the get go was so annoying! I can't stand it when films depict irrational behaviours in people. It's the sort of film you end up screaming at the screen when people say and do the most ridiculous things! People over reacted through out. The acting sucked and the story line was unbelievable, but get this…..I ended up watching all of it! I'm not sure if I was expecting it to get better considering Luke Hemsworth starred in the film and I was dumb-founded that he would star in such an amateurish film. I'm not sure if it is a spoof film taking the micky out of all other alien films, who knows? Luke Hemsworth is great eye candy so I didn't bore if seeing him, but it was a film I kept rolling my eyes at and wondering how any of the actors didn't question the script and just run with it. I guess you have to see it to believe it!!! Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member It's really hard to do an alien movie on a budget - but outside of art-class special effects, you'd expect more out of a movie with a Hemsworth brother. This growing alien connects with the humans (via spongey floppy umbilical cord) and ends up building something throughout the film. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews
