Audience Member Endearing characters and a sweet story -- very enjoyable. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review richard i Affable entertainment, particularly thanks to the always enjoyable Tautou, but with its fair share of inexplicable departures from reality (why would someone with a speech impediment find himself being openly derided by a class of drama students? What would cause anyone to be immediately hostile and unpleasant to a visitor but an ever-so attentive grandson?), and a light subtext of pro-monarchism (the aristocrat who brings people together, feeds his hungry dependents), but with an unignorably positive view of the power of taking responsibility for our nearest and dearest to make us deeply happy. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Read the book a long time ago, and loved the movie. Great acting all around- and, for a change, I loved all the characters, just as I did in the book. It's not high drama, just totally satisfying. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member a whimsical comedy performed with heart. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member French subtitles only, but it helps if you understand the language better than you express yourself in it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member A decidedly above average French film. Although a little uneven, it's very grown up and still uplifting.
