Georgan G Another bad movie from the 50 SciFi Collection, disc 8. Only thing going for it was a lot of oiled beefcake. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/23/23 Full Review william k Colorful, simple-minded Hercules adventure is entertainment on quite a low level, not enhanced by its unbearably dim-witted hero. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member AKA SONS OF HERCULES: IN THE LAND OF DARKNESS. Hercules---oops, I mean SON of Hercules---and his annoying comic relief sidekick fight a man in a bear suit and a subterranean tribe of cannibal slavers. It's two episodes of a cheap Italian TV show smashed together to make a feature film. In the middle of the story, narrator breaks in to give us a preview of what's coming in the second half! Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member Ercole I'invincibile (AKA Hercules the Invincible, AKA Sons of Hercules, AKA Son of Hercules in the Land of Darkness) has a convoluted history. The Sons of Hercules incarnation of the film was part of a TV show in the 1960s, which featured a different son of Hercules every week with a different setting. It was actually a repackaging of an earlier film. Today, the TV series version of the film is the most-remembered and probably the most-widely available, which isn't much. It's in the vein of a Ray Harryhausen film, but without the charming special effects. It's mostly just bad, but not for lack of trying. There are just too many elements in there that make it worthwhile all these years later. Argoles (in the Sons of Hercules version) lacks hardly any emotion as an actor, and his comic relief is painfully hard to watch. It's not a very good movie today, but Rifftrax did something with the Sons of Hercules version of the film that was quite fun. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Not too entertaining beyond it's camp factor, the acting is bad and the plot is senseless. The effects were laughable and probably the only eye-candy this movie offered. It has a few good scenes, like the dragon fight or the elephants with the chains, but otherwise, it's a bore Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member Don Vadis plays the part of Hercules in this film, out of all those actors who have played Hercules, I would say he has the best build for the part. I this one Hercules not only fights a evil queen but also must fight a dragon. The Evil Queen captures Hercules and orders him to be pulled apart by elephants, but as every Saturday afternoon TV watching kid in the Sixties knew, Hercules not only came through this without a scratch or a flea, but in the process he kicked some butt. My copy came from Mill Creek 50 Pack Warriors collection. This one is worth the standard 3 stars when it comes to Hercules movies. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews
