Anita Singh Daily Telegraph (UK) Director Jamie Roberts specialises in going behind the headlines and speaking to people who were at the heart of a story... He elicits clear and honest interviews from his subjects, such as the Marines on camera here. Rated: 4/5 Sep 21, 2022 Full Review Ben Kenigsberg New York Times The movie lays out a clear timeline and is good at conveying the conflicted feelings that Afghans had about leaving their homes and that American troops had as they tried to maintain control of the situation. Sep 21, 2022 Full Review Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat Spirituality & Practice A hard-hitting documentary of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan and the evacuation of tens of thousands of Afghan citizens. Rated: 5/5 Oct 4, 2022 Full Review John Serba Decider Captures a significant historical moment with poignant intensity, like the best documentaries do. Sep 27, 2022 Full Review Dennis Harvey 48 Hills Escape from Kabul is only 77 minutes long, but given all the harrowing footage of people screaming, crying, and sometimes literally dying for rescue, anything longer would be downright unbearable. Sep 23, 2022 Full Review Chris Barsanti The Playlist Terse, painfully precise. A close-quarters kind of war film that moves in tight and leaves little room to breathe. Skylar L I am not one to watch documentary, but after watching Escape From Kabul, i truly love this documentary it tells of eyes of the people who lived the last few days of the American in Afghanistan after 20 years of war. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/16/24 Full Review Elver C "Escape from Kabul" is a well constructed documentary that serves as a testimony of the last chapter of the USA war in Afganistan where desperation and optimism, for those who were able to leave the country, comes together in bittersweet ending. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/22/24 Full Review Dick B This is a powerful film which leads many openings for discussion, without casting judgement on any one who was a decision-maker at any point. August 2021, in my opinion, was the end line of the initial decision in the wake of 9-11-01 to take on bin laden and the Taliban in Afghanistan, even though no Afghanis appear to have been involved in planning or carrying out 9-11-01. By the time of the withdrawal, most everyone knew that the engagement had to end; but whoever drew the short straw and pulled the plug on it would be burdened unfairly with responsibility for the results. We should learn from this 20 years. I hope we will take the opportunity. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/08/23 Full Review Mariella H A heartbreaking film on the days of the American exit after 20 + years of War in Afghanistan. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/18/22 Full Review marc j I was 4 times in Afghanistan. The people don't deserve and don't want the actual leaders. I feel so sorry for al the nice people who couldn't leave. And I feel sorry for all the people who left their country. So sad 😭 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/06/22 Full Review David F I had no idea people trying to get out of Afghanistan went through this much suffering. Definitely an interesting watch.
