Its depiction of actual events is questionable, but Escape from Mogadishu is sleekly effective as an intelligent, well-acted action thriller.

Mark Kermode Kermode & Mayo's Film Review Every camera movement is there for a reason. This is a director, not showboating, but NEEDING to tell a story visually. Every single part of the film tells the story. Apr 15, 2022 Full Review Wendy Ide Observer (UK) For the most part... this is bracingly enjoyable stuff – slickly edited, dryly humorous and shot with a bold yellow palette that somehow enhances the sense of panic. Rated: 3/5 Mar 27, 2022 Full Review Kambole Campbell Little White Lies Surprisingly thoughtful in its depiction of two ideological wars. Great car chase too. Rated: 3/5 Mar 26, 2022 Full Review Daryl MacDonald InSession Film Escape From Mogadishu works well in its more quiet moments, and carries its message of unity amid turmoil, and the need to put down nationalist flags and identify with one another on a deeper level. Rated: B Apr 24, 2024 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies You can’t help but be pulled in by this exciting true account with its strong underlying message of unity. And while its ending is never in question, Ryoo steers clear of a conventional finish and leaves his audience with plenty to think about. Rated: 4/5 Aug 16, 2022 Full Review Grace Han KoreanScreen.com Escape from Mogadishu breathes fresh air into the age-old story of domestic conflict. Jimmer ne It was much like it was. instead of one warlord there was many. Not sure about embassies except the USA. The government people from Somalia kids would betaken, held for ransom. That's why the soldiers where sent after the South Korean security said they would give up names and addresses. Today warlords send men to try and board ships. Kenya to this have refugees in a huge camp which gets raided by warlords. child warriors are a real thing most are drugged. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/19/21 Full Review Judy mcr Suspenseful, great cinematography, range of elements of both humanity and conflict Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/09/21 Full Review Gerald L Well told story that showed how sworn enemies can join together against a common threat. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/08/21 Full Review Julia K Such a spectacular, absolutely well-made movie that depicts what had happened in Mogadishu in 1989. Amazing acting from the top Korean movie stars. Highly, highly recommended! Must watch! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/07/21 Full Review Claire and Ben One of the best Korean movie in 2021!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/06/21 Full Review Richard B Original mix of diplomatic tensions and escape movies. In a way, it's modern because of so many cultural exchanges that have happened in the 21st century. It means that local conflicts become international issues.
