Audience Member Someone's mad, and I'm beginning to think I might be the one. A nominee for Sundance's Grand Jury Prize and winner or official selection of four others should at least seem reasonably good, right? If this film is representative of the independent film, consider me an advocate of the studio system. Everything about it was amateurish. Performances across the board were unconvincing, but some of that might have been a product of a script that, when not cliched, was absolutely bizarre. Overall direction made the human forms on the screen feel anything-but. Cinematography was directionless and at times invasive. Everyone pitch in and you can get me TWO straight-jackets for when one is in the wash. Rated: 3/4 Sep 10, 2004 Full Review Mark Pfeiffer Reel Times: Reflections on Cinema Evergreen is composed of standard teleplay material that fails to surprise and engage at almost every turn. Rated: C- Apr 13, 2005 Full Review Vince Koehler Entertainment Spectrum The movie comes to a satisfactory conclusion teaching the lesson that things aren't always as good as they look. Rated: 2.5/4 Oct 6, 2004 Full Review Brent Simon Entertainment Today The dialogue is on-the-nose and its lessons are pedestrian, but the film remains a "working poor-trait" of poignancy and grace due to Addie Land's unself-conscious turn.
