st d Aug 9 This is a low budget movie, and there's hardly any action, but, for what it is, it's really outstanding. The writing is intelligent: nothing cliche or dumbed-down. The actors became their characters -- I had no sense of acting. And, all three characters (including the robot's head) grew on me as I watched and I liked and respected each one. I can't find any fault in this movie the day after watching it -- thus 5 stars. Not for everyone of course, or for every mood, but a hidden gem (and they've become so rare anymore -- thankfully, no agenda or preaching or politics in this movie -- just a simple movie about life and existence). See more 04/21/2019 A quiet movie for people who like movies like "Bokeh," and.... other quiet movies that I can't think of right now that explore the human condition in seemingly post-apocalyptic worlds. You know, the ones with few characters whose conversation represents various sides of the existential question, "Is life only about survival, or is there or something more?" Two traveling companions and a robot head (yeah, it sounds weird, but it works) cross paths in the desert, and join together on a journey of faith in the impossible. There's nothing flashy here, and some nice construction of the fictional-but-earthlike world they live in. A little slow in the beginning, but stick with it if you are someone who enjoys thinky movies with a "we are better together" vibe. The only reason I give it 3.5 stars rather than a full 4 is the simple picky gripe that these two fair-skinned protagonists wander in what appears to be a desert for weeks, but never burn. Yeah, I know, picky! (And, you know, that 5th star is reserved for truly great movies, like "Wonder Woman" and "The Shawshank Redemption.") There's quirk but it doesn't feel forced, and there isn't a single cynical frame in the film, making it something that feels fresh.
