In the fifth Evil Dead film, a road-weary Beth pays an overdue visit to her older sister Ellie, who is raising three kids on her own in a cramped L.A apartment. The sisters' reunion is cut short by the discovery of a mysterious book deep in the bowels of Ellie's building, giving rise to flesh-possessing demons, and thrusting Beth into a primal battle for survival as she is faced with the most nightmarish version of motherhood imaginable.

Instead of disposable slasher teens, we are shown a loving and functional family. When one of them is preyed upon by the demons it hurts, and it adds to the disgust and terror of the moment.

Great movie and a good continuation of the Raimi universe.. could be better tho, im sure he pulled a lot of punches. The environment and camera work is amazing- very reminiscent of the old 90s evil dead

Bringing the deadite carnage into the big city this time around “Rise” is a scary, gory, but also fun entry into the franchise. “Rise” brings back some dark, twisted humor that was lacking in the equally effect 2013 “Evil Dead.”
