Melly G It’s too good to be true - SUCH a deal on an East Village apartment - I mean “eVil!” What could possibly be wrong with it? I had such fun watching this. It is really as scary as it is funny, in equal measure, With fine performances, beautiful editing and a cracking good script - very entertaining. There’s quality scares for horror movie fans, as well as being a great comedy. Perfect for a spooky Fall - I loved it! But I got invited to a viewing party with some friends, and I thought I good give up one good night’s sleep to spend an evening with friends. Much to my surprise, this was a great movie for a person like me. Scary parts? Yes, but mixed with lots of humor, Silly jokes, great jokes, lots of laugh, and a story that moved quickly with an assured direction that let the cast all shine in ways of their own. The rent is cheap!!" As it turns out, they DO care in this alternately laugh out loud funny and spook ride scary statement on the horrors of trying to find good, affordable housing in an insane rental market. Writer/Director/Cinematographer Allan Piper skillfully weaves humor, horror and well-timed scares in this entertaining romp through New York's East Village (the eVil). A strong cast led by Jennifer Leigh Houston, Pat Dwyer. Stephen Mosher, Charley Tucker and Sally Struthers (Yes, THAT Sally Struthers), takes Piper's strong plot driven story and makes it fun and engaging, while still delivering a devilishly good horror film.
