      Critics Consensus

Struggling to find a romantic spark in a seedy premise, Excise Baggage is weighed down by a lot of comedic dead weight.

Steve D It is really hard to pull for any of these people. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/20/23 Full Review Daniel H Cute sexy and fun film thats aged incredibly well! Surprised to see it have a low score on here its one of my favorites, not just a rom com as it was marketed, has true depth. Highly recco Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/02/23 Full Review Michael S One of those quirky hit-or-miss late '90s comedies (girl fakes her own kidnapping, winds up mistakenly abducted when her car is stolen) that has two things going for it: Benicio del Toro's squirrely car thief and Christopher Walken's menacing "Uncle Ray." I wished the film had just focused on the two of them instead. The rest of the film is forgettable. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/28/23 Full Review Lucy G Don't understand why it has a low rating. I loved the movie when it came out and love it now. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/15/23 Full Review Audience Member i rented the movie when i was 12. i did so because i was a fan Alicia Silverstone. Clueless was still a hit with my age demographic at the time. The movie was mildly entertaining, but the story was kinda ridiculous. i remember thinking Benicio was really sexy and funny. i haven't seen it since then. i plan to give it another go.. . for old time's sake, you know? 1997 was a very fun year for me. EDIT: Okay. i just watched it again after 24 years, and i have to give it an additional half star. The story is ridiculous, but it's cute. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Matthew D I was going to give this shrill, unpleasent excuse for a comedy the lowest possable rating, but reconsidered when I remembered that there is exactly one funny moment in it. One funny moment deserves exactly one extra half star. I am firm but fair. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/25/21 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
