Overall, pic works well as a road movie, swinging and easy for the most part but gaining a certain gravitas in its later stretches. Go to Full Review

Through facial expression, gesture and deed, Gatlif manages to coax such a deep humanity out of his characters' situations that dialogue becomes superfluous. Go to Full Review

We don't get much in the way of witty dialogue or character development, but the choice shots of clammy skin, tousled hair, odd scars and bad weather evoke an engaging story just the same. Go to Full Review

01/10/2016 Outstanding French movie. Great opening sex scene. Rent it and you won't be disappointed See more 11/13/2010 For Exils, I will say that it is the Rose in the Desert. The potrayal of the two characters traveling from one to other place is beautiful. Background score and cinematography is another essence of the film. You'll enjoy it if you can relate to the gypsy mood. See more 10/24/2010 Great topographic filmography and interesting main characters. Worth watching if just to hear a brilliant soundtrack of Algerian beats and rhythms and Roma synths. See more 05/16/2010 simile ai film di Fatih Akim, bisogna recuperare i flm più vecchi che dice che sono pure meglio See more 05/03/2010 it's artistic..but I didn't like it.
