Audience Member Touching court room drama. Well acted by Deannie Yip. She give birth to a boy but unable to raise him, send to orphanage. She work as hostess and always give her son gifts and save money for education, but never once reveal. She was disfigured and work as whore. Then she was trial for murder and Andy Lau (the son) now a lawyer win the case. He doesn't know her identity. The Sister at orphanage refuse to reveal. Years passed, Deannie is still plying her trade. a crook cop got to know Andy is her son and demand $10k or else he will expose the secret. Andy girlfriend Kathy Chow is also a lawyer and both working under her dad firm. He wants to fight a case for a whore. The judge is the father good friend and he refuses to hear the trial. Later Andy got to know the whore suicide in jail and he quabbles with the judge. Deannie can't get money for crook cop, he made her sign a receipt. She try her luck in gambling den and lose so she cheated and was discovered. Her hand were battered by bricks. Shing Fui-On is a loanshark and he demand money from the cop owe. Deannie pals raise money for her. She give $10k to the cop but he never return the article and demanded $100k. She plan to kill him. Crooked cop fell asleep after sex. The girl left and Deannie try to kill her with scissors but fail. She take his gun and shoot him and scuffle. The girl forgot her earrings and return and saw the commotion. Deannie killed the cop and caught. Sister see the news and ask Andy to help her. Deannie refuse to co-operate and angers Andy. She try to suffocate herself in jail and Sister visit her in hospital. She have no choice but tell Andy she is his real mother. He acknowledge her, call her Mum and it is touching. The girlfriend dad tells Andy not to fight her case and says the judge is the one he offended previously. Paul Chun is the prosecutor and friend of judge too. Andy ask Shing to help and he refuse. Paul use threats to get the escaped whore witness back to HK. During trial, the judge keep siding Paul. As the witness have not turn up, it is adjourned. Andy find Shing again and he want to fight. Andy is beaten up badly and Shing agree to help him as he like his guts. Andy also manage to convince the witness for help but she wants money. Andy have to lent her money and Kathy warns him it is bribery and will be jail if discovered. Andy also ask Deannie to fake story. Kathy's dad ask everyone to gather as the judge and Paul want to compromise. ICAC is coming hard on the police and these crook people know Andy can ease them off, so they will charge Deannie to manslaughter and 15 years jail. Andy refuse the term and angers everyone. The father dismiss him. Andy is angry Kathy tells on him and slap her. Paul threaten the whore witness to change her statement. Shing is dismiss from court due to his credibility. Deannie fumble the story during Paul interrogate. The witness also reveal truth of what she saw and says Andy bribe her. During break, Andy plead with the duo for the previous agreement but they refused. Ending statement, Andy tells the story in court and says he is the son. The jury agree to manslaughter and then add on they seek a ligh sentence for Deannie and says the judge is biased against Andy, want him to conduct himself proper instead. The judge sentence her 3 years jail but due to ill health she acquitted for 5 years, so immediately release. All of them unite happily and Kathy returns. Her father also accept him back.
