Margaret (Cher) is in the midst of a midlife crisis. Her husband, Jack (Ryan O'Neal), is sleeping with another woman and has hired a thug, Tony (Chazz Palminteri), to murder her for the payout on her life insurance policy. While Tony has Margaret tied up in her house, waiting for word from Jack to pull the trigger, the hit man and the housewife begin chatting to pass the time. As the two talk, Tony starts getting cold feet about the job, while Margaret decides to reevaluate her life.

I enjoyed it, being a big fan of Cher I have tried to watch every movie she has. This movie is pretty good they are both very funny in this movie, But it's sad that I could only find it on YouTube. Not a lot of people have seen it or heard of it.

i know this movie didn't do well, but 7%? wow. I can see why this movie isn't for everyone, too much screen time is focused on tony and margaret's conversation in the house and it's not an "action packed" movie like most would have expected, but it simply isn't that type of movie. I thought it was a good film with small flaws.

I certainly can't understand why this film was so harshly judged. The writing really went into the complexities of love/hate in a marriage while also utilizing some comedic and dramatic effects. The problem is that this film was never given the promotion it deserved upon its release. Definitely a must see for anyone in a complicated relationship.

I'm not really sure what happened here. I like the idea of Cher and Chazz and on the occasion when they can work up a rhythm it seems ready to take off but Mazursky's natural rhythms aren't there and one just doesn't lose the thing that you've mined so successfully and for so long. I just don't understand it at all.
