Good intentions and huggable canines go only so far in the face of a predictable script and casting so random that everyone involved seems barely part of the same species, let alone the same family. Go to Full Review

One assumes writer John Bell isn't plagued with a family full of neurotics like, say, Noah Baumbach, so while his movie manages to rise above cliche, it doesn't have very far to go beyond that. Go to Full Review

10/30/2013 The strange story of a murder that has the younger family members conspiring against the older, makes for an interesting screenplay. This odd ball movie is well lighted enabling the camera a soft look at the family antics that are progressively mad. Highlighting that family's who do not talk to each other will inevitably hurt each other. Nibbles: Dog Biscuits. See more 07/07/2013 This is a somewhat odd comedy, but it actually works very well for most parts, it is a strange family, some strange characters, a strange plot/story and all-in-all a strange or odd movie. There are many things in this that works out, it is a lot of small events that form the bigger picture and it is strangely intriguing, maybe because some of the small events will be something you will recognise from yourself or your family. It is all these small quirks and strange acts that makes this film work and make it realistic and believable. The pase is slow but homely, the characters could have been some from your family or home town and it is funny and entertaining in its own way. See more 02/07/2011 Interesting indie film about the struggles of a family. Hatosy is good as the son who had moved away and Qualls is good as the other son. Their issues with their dad (parents) play out well on screen. Nikki Reed has a small role as a grocery clerk if I recall correctly.
