Jack's lavish, fast-paced lifestyle changes one Christmas night when he stumbles into a grocery store holdup and disarms the gunman. The next morning he wakes up in bed lying next to Kate, his college sweetheart he left in order to pursue his career, and to the horrifying discovery that his former life no longer exists. some of the dialogues are over the top yet the plot is touching and poignant. for me there was a meager chance of a happy ending the whole film. the last speech by Jack unfortunately fell flat. I also hated the spoon-fed message of family being the only thing that makes a person truly happy. still it’s worth watching and deserves all the glowing reviews.

A thoughtful film about how small choices can shape an entire life. I first saw this as a teenager, but revisiting it in my mid-30s made it feel far more relatable and quietly affecting. It’s not a perfect film, and it can be a little uneven, but its refusal to neatly wrap everything up is part of what makes it feel honest. Less a feel-good fantasy than a gentle, lingering "what if."

If you want a Christmas movie that seems to be a derivative of It's a Wonderful Life, this is it. It is very similar but the similarities are very real. I loved the acting and the plot line but I also love the plot line for other Christmas movies. This is a heart warmer to watch with family or friends who want to watch a kind and gentle movie that has redemption as one of it's themes. It is a good one from my perspective.
