The cast is uniformly great, but Martindale, Dowd, the inspired Judy Greer, and young Elsie Fisher as the grieving great-granddaughter who is Mabel’s closest ally, are the standouts in this intimate “home movie.”

Thanks to the impeccably cast dynamic, presented and empathetically directed in a timely manner that advocates its gimmicky format, this family drama is hilariously executed with general warmth it instills to a hearteningly comfort extent. (B+)

This is kinda the good side of melodrama and family fare. It was good fun in general. Lotta funny bits throughout along with the family dramatics. Hey, it's another movie or show where I don't hate Ann Dowd. Plus, it's Dowd in a movie with Margo Martindale. And I don't hate either of them. Dog bless Judy 'Cheryl/Carol' Greer. Oh the Winkler waterworks, and Meathead as narrarator FTW!. 3 stars straight up.
