Peter Bradshaw Guardian It's a movie that should really be watched in a basement through a cloud of weed smoke, in the company of hippies who, in the immortal words of Alexei Sayle, are in the habit of weaving their own hemp-substitute bags out of dried snot. Rated: 3/5 Feb 6, 2020 Full Review Michael Atkinson Village Voice An adorable, preposterous mutant film from the heyday of international do-your-own-thing moviemania. Aug 29, 2006 Full Review New York Times For all its invocations of theater of cruelty, Fando and Lis hardly ever scares up anything stronger than unpleasant whimsey. Rated: 2/5 May 9, 2005 Full Review Rob Gonsalves Rob's Movie Vault It's Jodorowsky, so the imagery is fierce and evocative, but the first time through it can be a bit of a test of patience. Rated: B Nov 29, 2022 Full Review Fernando F. Croce CinePassion Very much a late '60s freakout, tricked out with car cemeteries and action painting in the nude, the movie is fake-profound but seldom dull. Feb 26, 2008 Full Review Ben Cobb Film4 Jodorowsky's lyrical fantasy leaves Fellini and Buuel spluttering in its dust. Rated: 4/5 Feb 26, 2008 Full Review Read all reviews

Fra B It's a true fantasy, disjointed but with unique whimsical moments you will not find in any other movie and very refined technique. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/11/21 Full Review william k Madcap surrealist road trip in a post-apocalyptic world is full of imaginative sequences and absurd and shocking moments, but altogether doesn't seem to make much sense as a cautionary tale (which obviously was the intention). Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review júlio a Filme nadinha fácil. Mas olhando com calma, à (C) bem interessante. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Mr. Jodorowsky would go on to make ambitious and visionary films about the eccentric, the curious, and the corrupt, but his early work Fando and Lis is nothing more than disagreeably quirky. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member It is always interesting to see how Jodorowsky wanted to push the cinematic envelope with this provocative surrealist film of striking visuals - which, even if notably amateurish and flawed, already showed that he was an artist full of ideas and promising talent. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member The gateway film into the intensely surreal realm that is his repertoire, Jodorowsky's Fando Y Lis experiments with what would later become his trademark visual style. The real gem in this picture is the silent film-esque opening credits, in which black and white biblical images play over a surreal narration.
