Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald is a decent addition to J.K. Rowling’s universe. I think I still like the first one more. It’s obviously a bit of a filler film, which some people may not like, but I don’t have a problem with.

Has some good parts, but lots of very poorly written lines and incomprehensible scenes. Worth watching, but disappointing compared to the Harry Potter series.

This second chapter in the magical universe completely loses itself in its own ambition, functioning more as an excessively long prologue than as a standalone film. While the production design is dazzling and the visual effects fill the screen, the script is a huge mess of unnecessary subplots, forced revelations, and holes in the already established mythology. The pacing drags, and the narrative focuses so much on setting up the saga's future that it forgets to deliver a coherent story in the present.
