Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald is a decent addition to J.K. Rowling’s universe. I think I still like the first one more. It’s obviously a bit of a filler film, which some people may not like, but I don’t have a problem with.

I have re-watched this recently and I have re-evaluate it: when I fist watched this I was still thinking it would have been more similar to Harry Potter but after some distance from the saga I have appreciated this movie as a new entity. The story itself is actually quite interesting and there are funny moments that makes the experience more enjoiable. Only sad thing is that Jonny Deep is replaced in the last movie of the trilogy :(

After his surprise appearance in the first film, Grindelwald escapes and Dumbledore sends his old student, Newt, to stop him and his followers. This movie has more relationship building and flashbacks than the first film but still introduces new creatures and ties to the Harry Potter story.
