      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

While an improvement on its predecessor, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer is nevertheless a juvenile, simplistic picture that has little benefit beyond its special effects.

Audience Member While an equally lackluster plot and poor, outdated portrayals of feminine characters are also a problem in this film, the story is better told in this sequel, even if there's still not much to tell. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/29/24 Full Review Alec B A slight improvement to its predecessor but the pacing is so frenetic it feels like nothing actually happens. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/22/24 Full Review ADjustinG2013 It makes the action much more interesting and attempts to expand the scope of what should feel like home territory to the team, but it ends up still failing to fully utilize its characters. The campiness is still heavy. But one thing they can't do is to make the unfailingly wholesome Mr Fantastic and friends worth worrying about.
