Critics Consensus

While an improvement on its predecessor, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer is nevertheless a juvenile, simplistic picture that has little benefit beyond its special effects.

Dana Stevens Slate An off-brand superhero movie, the cinematic equivalent of one of those generic breakfast cereals with a badly drawn squirrel for a mascot. Sep 22, 2007 Full Review Sandra Hall Sydney Morning Herald The film's effects people perform many miracles, from draining the River Thames to ensuring that the Thing produces a convincing smile. But one thing they can't do is to make the unfailingly wholesome Mr Fantastic and friends worth worrying about. Amir A The fantastic 4: the rise of the silver surfer was released in the 15 of june 2007 in the US.the film was realised by Tim Story and the scenarion was written by Mark Frost and Don Payne. The lead actors are Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Micheal Chiklis , Chris Evans and Julian McMahon. The film starts with Reed Richards and Susan Storm, they are about to get married both members of the 4 fantastic. But from outer space comes silver surfer, a very powerful alien that provocs diversed accidents like climat changes. With their buddys the thing and human torch they have to stop this menace from causing the end of the world. I think that all the actors played their roles very well espacially chris evans that played human torch, his character is a comic guy and always fails to make me laugh. They also matched perfectly their acting from the first movie that was also well acted. They were also really believable characters They used all the cinematography techniques possible. Like close up, high angle shot. In conclusion , i really recommend this film for people that likes the MCU universe, the plot is well writen and the movie was a little bit slow in my opinion but still very good. The actors played better than the first film in my opinion there is also good filming techniques and a good ending Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/28/25 Full Review Pedro Henrique C This movie is a total mess, it's an unnecessary sequel, the story of the Silver Surfer was a waste that 20th Century Fox committed. The script is crap, the effects are so bad. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/28/25 Full Review Paul S It is significantly worse than the first one, but it was still fun to watch. The story was really convoluted, but what really ruined this movie was the depiction of Galactus. They took a villain that is supposed to be one of the most powerful and menacing in the Marvel universe and reduced him to a giant space cloud. It's fun to watch, but it's not a good movie. I'd say stop at the first one. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/27/25 Full Review Fil S The first film went so well that they said they would make a second one. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/23/25 Full Review Enzo O is jessica alba too much to ask for?? Silver surfer is dope af tho ngl like what other villain can just be like SURFBORT then eat a rocket habibi Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/28/25 Full Review Audience Member This movie was one of the few holes I had in the Marvel total universe. The first one was just OK and I assumed this one would be worse based on the reception it received so I never bothered. The Fantastic Four was my favorite comic as a kid so I did not want to tarnish it any more. Umm…this movie is awesome. The interaction between the characters works really well and true to the source material. It is funny, fun, and there is real heart. It’s very hard to introduce a character like the Silver Surfer and they do it well. My only real issue is I thought the Dr. Doom character was forced in. I left this movie very sad that there were only two movies with this group of actors. Thank you for not mailing it in for this sequel, I highly recommend Fantastic Four Rise of the Silver Surfer.
