What to Know

Critics Consensus

While an improvement on its predecessor, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer is nevertheless a juvenile, simplistic picture that has little benefit beyond its special effects.

Dana Stevens Slate An off-brand superhero movie, the cinematic equivalent of one of those generic breakfast cereals with a badly drawn squirrel for a mascot. Sep 22, 2007 Full Review Sandra Hall Sydney Morning Herald The film's effects people perform many miracles, from draining the River Thames to ensuring that the Thing produces a convincing smile. But one thing they can't do is to make the unfailingly wholesome Mr Fantastic and friends worth worrying about. Rated: 2/5 Jun 30, 2007 Full Review Marc Savlov Austin Chronicle Rise of the Silver Surfer is both relentlessly dull and curiously bombastic. Lucho G I really loved the Silver Surfer in this movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/22/25 Full Review John W I felt like this film was a downgrade from the first one. I found it boring in places, but there were a few good moments. So it's worth watching if you liked the first one. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/21/25 Full Review Jakob F Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Best Fantastic Four movie ever! No question — Rise of the Silver Surfer is the peak of the Fantastic Four movies. It’s got everything: action, humor, team drama, and one of the coolest Marvel characters ever put on screen — the Silver Surfer. The visuals still hold up, and the Surfer is just epic. Mysterious, powerful, and beautifully designed. He steals every scene he's in. The story moves fast, and it’s fun from start to finish. Chris Evans as Human Torch? On fire (literally and figuratively). And the team chemistry just works so well here. If you haven’t seen this in a while, give it a rewatch. Totally underrated and still awsome. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/06/25 Full Review Kelly N A little better than the first one but still poor writing and acting covered how good the story was. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/03/25 Full Review Dani G I don't remember much of the first one, just that it was bad.... Well, this one is REALLY BAD Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/02/25 Full Review יהלי ש It's much better than the first movie but still lacks the action and the story building. It is an improvement but not good enough. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/31/25 Full Review Read all reviews
