Spectacular architecture, a police lab, and mysterious men in black enliven this outre thriller. Go to Full Review

Unfathomably for a century-old movie that has influenced an entire genre, it's actually a little bit surprising in spots. Go to Full Review

For something that's now 97 years old, it's a terrific, hugely entertaining film. Go to Full Review

04/17/2014 I had previously watched and reviewed the first two parts of Louis Feuillade's Fantomas serial when they streamed on Netflix. They have since been removed from that streaming service, but I found the DVD set containing all five feature length parts of this serial mystery. In this third part Fantomas (René Navarre) continues to roam free in the underworld committing crimes in high society. Inspector Juve (Edmund Breon) is assumed dead, so he is absent from most of this film. Instead, Juve's partner, the reporter Fandor (Georges Melchior) takes the lead in investigating the latest series of crimes, which he knows must all connect back to Fantomas somehow. Once you've seen how the characters regularly use disguises in this serial it will not be too difficult to figure out that Juve is not gone. Yet, Fandor is the younger and more active of the two, so with him doing his own private investigation we are treated to a bit more action. In normal serial fashion the two heroes eventually get close to arresting the master criminal, but he slips from their grasp at the last moment. See more 10/05/2008 A longer version than the first two, this film is really the one with the plot twist, holding us up for some awesome excitements along the way. Even the entire crime spree was badass, using the stock-market for gains. See more Read all reviews
