      Fear the Night

      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Despite typically strong work from Maggie Q, Fear the Night is a fairly generic and disappointingly tension-free thriller from writer-director Neil LaBute.

Maria I THIS WAS A WASTE OF TIME. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/29/24 Full Review Cara N Maggie Q gives a good performance, no problems there. The movie itself is very average, not much action. The ending leaves things unresolved Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/27/24 Full Review Ryan M By no means does this film reflect, dictate, or emulate how I feel about Maggie Q as an actress in a leading role. This was just a poorly executed and poorly written slog and I won't bring myself to hold it against her. This was easily forgettable and at times (most of the runtime) very irritating and I would like to disregard this from Maggie Q's resume moving forward. AND stop displaying the damn time every six minutes (queue eye roll) and scrap the epilogue that served absolutely no purpose. That is all. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/24 Full Review A R Such a shame when they had a very good actress like Maggie Q that it's wasted among other - very badly overacting - actors. A story that easily could have worked, given good supporting actors and some better dialogue, bombed. I only kept watching because of Maggie Q. But the angry sister, the angry friend, the angrier friend, the general nastiness which is never explained towards MQs character, it's all too draining and there's little empathy for anyone apart from MQ or a desire that any of them survive. It was an epic waste of £3 or whatever I paid! Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/09/24 Full Review Jelisije J Without Maggie Q the film suffers with terribly written characters with mediocre acting with an ending that should have gave you answers instead of asking more questions.....Disappointed is and understatement. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/03/24 Full Review Lloyd S Just a bloodshed for a very common reason, money. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/18/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Peter Bradshaw Guardian This is a waste of time and streaming pixels. Rated: 1/5 Sep 19, 2023 Full Review Noel Murray Los Angeles Times It's crafty enough, but it's lacking LaBute's usual acid wit and fearless provocations. Jul 24, 2023 Full Review Simon Abrams RogerEbert.com Eventually, it becomes hard to tell if the movie and its canned culture clash/battle of the sexes drama is just self-consciously tedious or also hatefully ungenerous. Rated: 1/4 Jul 21, 2023 Full Review Chad Collins Dread Central Bloody, funny, and cathartic, Fear the Night is a wickedly violent showcase for Maggie Q. Rated: 4/5 Apr 1, 2024 Full Review Jessica Scott Nightmarish Conjurings Shallow and unsatisfying, Fear the Night is an adequate home invasion thriller that could have been so much more...it turns away from interesting choices at every turn, leaving a generic, half-baked thriller behind. Feb 1, 2024 Full Review Chris Ward Flickering Myth There is actually very little here that you haven’t seen before; the lead performance from Maggie Q is strong, but that really is all it has going for it.
