dustin d Female Demon Ohyaku is a "Pinky Violence" film only a few years before Scorpion or Female Yakuza Tale, but feels much more tame in terms of sexual content (there is still some gratuitous female-on-female scenes), but in terms of over-the-top violence and content (it's a revenge story), it certainly delivers, and is one of the better films of the genre. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Don't let the black & white photography fool you because this film does not skimp when it comes to beheadings, ear stabbing, torture and blood. This was much better than I expected this to be for what is considered to be an early classic of the Japanese exploitation genre known as pinku eiga. My main reason for renting this besides what many would say are the obvious ones is the fact that the 2nd & 3rd in the Legends of the Poisonous Seductress series were directed by legendary horror director Nobuo Nakagawa. Plus they are in color as well. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Godmother of the Pinky Violence genre of Japanese films, this is quite legitimately good, with most of the salaciousness and violence all in the last third. Respectable. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Early Pinky Violence film in black and white is above average for the genre. The story is about the daughter of a prostitute that grows up to be a tightrope walker and seems to fall in with the wrong people at every turn. Part revenge story part heist film, it works on both levels with surprisingly little sex but does feature a ample amount of blood and gore. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member The black & white film adds an extra air of respectability to this otherwise straightforward female revenge saga. The action and careful plotting keep things lively, and the finale is a stunner. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Read all reviews
