Larry J Fertile Ground is one of those movies where the premise is really good but it just doesn't get there. I also thought the ending left a lot to be desired. Maybe a larger budget and/or more time spent writing would have improved it. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/22/23 Full Review Audience Member The premise is simple as a couple move to a new house after the spouse had miscarriage her infant. Then, the wife see peculiar things begin to occur around the house and husband denies it. This film felt like each and every other frequented horror house you usually see in other movies. Nothing different could be pointing here or to be hold accountable for. The cinematography is cold and will leave you with few jump scares. The ominous sound effect will follow throughout the film. The acting is acceptable but the writing could have been improvised by Adam Gierasch and Jace Anderson. I would not recommend it to anyone unless if any individual who simply need a straightforward and a regular spooky house film. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member I watched Fertile Ground on the same night as the Amityville remake and found it a far superior haunted house movie. Leisha Hailey's descent into schizoid freakout mode is nicely paced and she really commits to the role in a way that carries the movie through some of it's clunkier moments, most of which involve Gale Harold and his apparent lack of interest in bringing anything to the role. In contrast to Amityville there are few special fx but a better written characterisation of a relationship falling apart. It's a more human centred horror film that dodges the bleeding walls stereotypes most of these things stumble into. It's not a great film but it's a lot better than most movies in the genre that are made with a lot more money. Some bang for your buck. Strange things begin to happen when the lady of the house finds a trunk of antiques belonging to the great, great uncle of the husband. Bland supernatural horror with no scares and very few special effects. There was no feeling of tension evoked in the movie, and the ending was what I expected.
